University of the Nations - Kona, Hawaii

There's no other university system in the world quite like YWAM's global University of the Nations. And no place quite like the Kona campus. Here is what makes this place so special:

Our live-learn lifestyle -- This community learning concept embodies the New Testament model of Christians who live and learn together and work toward common objectives. This family-style approach implies a sharing of meals, resources, ideas and talents in a spirit of love and unity. Our students and staff come from many nations, cultures, denominations and generations, and God forms us into a beautiful family. The live-learn concept gives students remarkable access to our faculty and staff, who model the life of Christ in many everyday settings. Through the combination of academic study and community life, students grow in character as well as wisdom.

Our modular education system -- Unlike typical universities, in which students take several course subjects in any given quarter or semester, University of the Nations students take only one 12-unit school per quarter. This enables our students to have an in-depth understanding of each subject. Each week, the school focuses on a different theme within that subject. This twelve-week teaching framework enables us to bring in top international speakers who are highly respected within their fields. Each school is typically followed by an internship or cross-cultural field assignment to give you immediate application of what you've just learned.

One added benefit of the modular system is the relational synergy it creates. Our students are not just a number within a big lecture hall. Most of our classes are small enough for our students to get to know one another well. From this comes many lasting friendsships, greater cross-cultural understanding and an amazing network of connections within the greater YWAM family.

Islanders

Our mid-Pacific location -- Hawaii is often called the crossroads of the Pacific, and our location between North America and Asia draws people from all thePacific Rim nations. The island culture, with its spirit of aloha, is as beautiful as the islands themselves. Hawaii's warm, sunny weather makes it possible to enjoy outdoor activities all year round. Our campus lifestyle is open air, making the most of the sea breezes and the sunshine to "air condition" our buildings. Its a place that invites warm relationships and adventurous outings.

Our amazing YWAM family -- Some say YWAM is the most diverse Christian group in the world with people from just about every nation on earth. We are a people with a purpose -- to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to all people and nations. We come together regularly for prayer, for fellowship, for worship, and to just have fun together. Becoming part of the YWAM and U of N family will give you connections all over the globe.

Our radical commitment to hear and obey God -- It's how we live our lives both on campus and out in the world.
